New here, Just introducing myself.

Sat Dec 31, 2011 2:03 am

So just wanted to come here and say hi. I have not done any diving or have any vintage equipment yet. But my good friend who is on here GJ1963 is my diving buddy and suggested that I come on here and do some reading. I would like to get an old double hose at some point, but for now it is doing reading and research.

Yup, That's how it starts, you're "just looking", or "just reading" and the next thing you know you've run out of shelf space.

Welcome to the board and Happy New Year.

Welcome to the boared.

Hummm, just reading... is that kinda like I did not inhale? The things are addictive, you can't have just one. :) Just ask Ed, he was warned.

There is a lot of great info on the board and lots of experience that is freely given. Spend some time on the home page reading the beginners guide, the identification page and the care and maintance sections. Unlike modern scuba, it's common for a DH diver to service his or her own gear....heck, taking an old junker apart, restoring it to better than new condition and diving it is a large part of what attracts many of us to vintage scuba.

Yesterday was Cary's first time under water in a good while so he kept to a single hose to re-familiarize himself with what he knew while I swam around with my Phoenix and Snark. I'll get him hooked yet so I have someone local to dive with with double hoses. Will have to scrounge up a DA or so for him to rebuild.

Thanks everybody. Yeah next time we go out diving I will for sure try out one of GJ's setups. But don't worry I know how the just reading and browsing turns into oops where can I put the next one. Hmm. I had that problem with cars. But thankfully DB is a much easier thing to store. But I really do look forward to picking up my first DB setup and GJ going out doing some vintage diving.

Welcome Pug! I'm taking bets that you'll have one by January 21st
Then another by March 1. And then every 6 weeks after....

That's how it usually happens...keep us posted, we love pictures!

Have fun and safe diving!

Thank you Lisa,

Yeah you are more then likely right. Once I get into something I tend to get into it a bit to far and next thing you know I have a full on collection. I am already shopping for a DB. I need to start putting some money aside to start picking up some older Gear. I am looking forward to getting some stuff.

Happy New year to yall.

Cheers

Welcome Pug!

If you are ever in sunny Florida, and need some combination of gear (vintage or modern) and/or a dive buddy, then send me a message! Also, if you drink scotch, beer, shoot guns, ride ATVs, watch WWII documentaries in HD, or read Edgar Rice Burroughs. I think that is it....
