DW Mistral & Twin 45's video

Thu Oct 27, 2011 7:32 pm

Hello everyone...

Dove with a member from the South Coast Divers group in Orange County last week. Normal dive in Laguna Beach (Divers Cove). He had a little video camera he was shooting with and got some footage of my setup undewater.

Bryan restored DW Mistral. The twin 45's I picked up from a retired firefighter on Craigslist. The manifold is a US Divers type with a J valve rod that Alan Klauda sent me along with one of his harnesses. The Bands are from Simonbeans.

I have a banjo with a wireless receiver on it and a old viper computer on the wrist. This helps keeps the setup streamline with no extra hoses. It's so comfortable underwater.

Thanks you all for the help in setting it up.

Looking good! Water clarity was not so hot but looks like you have your doubles and Mistral all sorted out. Thanks for sharing.

Nice looking rig! I haven't been in a kelp forest since '81. I'd really like to check one out again! Thanks for posting.

Nice rig. Looks balanced & comfortable. I think I prefer the yellow rather than the black hoses. Might change mine. Thanks for posting the video.

Your vintage setup looks great! :) thanks for posting the video's. i liked the underwater garden video. the kelp forests of the west coast are a blast to dive in. i really enjoyed diving in the kelp gardens along the oregon coast a few years ago.

You're welcome. We did another dive this weekend at Heiser Park in Laguna Beach. My buddy had his Go Pro video camera with him, so I'll see if he got any footage again. It was a large group of about 12-15 divers. He never has a problem finding me as everyone else in the group dives contempo.

Thanks for sharing! It brings back great memories of being able to dive SOCAL on several occasions. 8)

Another short video shot by my buddy. This video took place one week later from the previous videos. Same general dive area.

Nice looking twin tank set up! I've seen your black tanks in your Avatar but the affect when combined with a yellow hose Mistral and yellow weight belt really looks sharp... And comfortable. Thanks for the nice videos.
