Show off your display. I need some ideas...

Show off your display. I need some ideas.

So, I promised my self when I started down this path a while back, that one good DH in nicely tuned condition would be plenty…

Try as I might, somehow I’m up to four. (round-label RAM w/ Phoenix conversion, traditionally setup square-tag RAM, square-tag DA, and a very pretty recently rehabbed JetAir)

I realize that doesn’t even touch the pile that some of you have, but I would like to set up and show off my little collection, such as it is. I have seen the cut off tank tops used and that might be an option as I have a couple of old alloy 50’s in the back of the dive locker, but I feel certain that with this group there are some other pretty creative solutions out there.

I’d really like to see how others have approached displaying their regulators, and I’m sure everyone else will get a kick out of it too.

Thanks in advance, Fred

I display my regs on my tanks when I dive them. I don't believe in static displays as one of my personal rules is that if it's in my collection, I'm going to dive it. If I had a 1968 Golden RAM, I'd dive that sucker too. It would be worth it just to see people cringe. LOL. I have a DivAir Model B. The blue aluminum bodied one. I have restored it with the help of the new diaphragms that Jerry Moseman made. I've dove it many times, first in the pool and then in open water. The reg itself is pretty cool. Had I not been able to get it back to life and then dive it, it would merely be a waste of space and I would have sold it long ago. As it is, fully functionable and a really great reg, it has earned a space in my collection.

Ahhh..... OK...

Well for the 99 1/2% of the time I'm not under water using them, I would like to be able to look at them because I enjoy that too. Not unlike my vintage German bier steins.

Thought there would be some good ideas out there, but maybe everyone else keeps them in a shoebox under the bed...

I have a small floor to ceiling closet in the corner of a finished basement that can be cool and dark. The closet has a door so that the regs can be out of sight or not. The closet has multiple shelves upon which the regs are displayed/stored. Here is how the shelves are made and used: (Remember the WORDLESS WORKSHOP from Popular Science?)

In the interest of not leaving my pal Swimjim on the deco line alone, I choose not to display any of my SCUBA gear either. I have all of my doublehoses in airtight tupperwear containers with home-made desiccant packages in all of them to keep the rubber parts from rotting. I wrap each one of them in a t-shirt before I put them away to minimize scratches. I am also a believer in dive gear is for diving only. I do not keep any dive gear anywhere other than in my garage.

I do, however, understand that some people wish to display their regulators. I don't think that there is anything at all wrong with that. If Skindiver Gary will show his setup, I believe that is a really nice way to show regulators. 8) Generally, if you need to see something that has incredible attention to detail, look at Gary's stuff.

I've seen some tanks cut at the top (1/3) to present regulators and it's a pretty nice way to display.

For the moment my collection is not displayed and I have some stuffs to dive and some other stuffs that I'm sure to never dive as my Duck Feet fins (because of the age of the rubber - I prefer to don't test the resistance of the rubber!).
For the moment I keep my stuffs out of day light, well wash in clear water after each dive and put a slim layer of silicon grease on it after each dive to protect rubber from air corrosion (some of my friends in USA recommended me to do that - they recognize them self). You can do that if you want to display your rubber stuffs at the day light in your special room!
I understand too why some of the divers here prefer to use than to display. But I protect the best I can some of my pieces that are really really rare and precious whether for my dive stuff whether for my military stuff such museum pieces...

I know this is a little late, but here are some pics of the items of WWW.theSCUBAmuseum.com in various display cases, tables, and barristers that my lovely Mermaid allows me to have in the living room.
I built this Barrister, not for books but for regs on tank tops!

This table is one of two that I enlarged the top to so it would accomodate bigger items for display.

Wow!!! I simply fall on my bottom being watching your amazing collection!!! I definitely like your way to display! My wife is also tolerant for some of my pieces but not to show all my Vietnam stuffs on the living room! Hope I could show you this one day when I'll be back to France... Your gauge collection is simply impressive! I've a VOIT depth gauge similar to the both on the right with the orange circle made in Germany. Could you tell me more about?

About the picture showing the Vulcan knife, the bottles looks like kind of bibs, aren't they?

Congrats!

I use 10 gallon aquariums flipped upside down to display regulators. I stack the fish tanks four high with a reg in each one. They are $12 each at wallyworld but I keep my eyes open at yard sales. I got four of them for a dollar last summer. You can put wood trim around them if you want to get fancy.

Much of my gauge collection is on my website and some details for most gauges are there.

I am not sure what you mean by "bib" on the bottles? The bottles in that display are from the 1880s or so and where found under a shipwreck that sank in 1909. When I found them they had not been seen by human eyes for over 100 years at least!

PLease check this page for more pics of the bottles and other treasure I have collected.
http://www.thescubamuseum.com/photo_gal ... allery.htm Ok most of it is junk, but I like the term treasure better.

What I call a bid is a feeding-bottle. I was thinking that bib came from "biberon" in french who mean feeding bottle... :? Another "faux ami" like we said in France! I should to have seen a glass marble at the top of the right bottle.
I have already watch your website but not enough to find all these treasures. I'll return to watch it deeply soon!
