USD Triples

Fri Dec 24, 2010 12:19 am

Does anyone have an idea around what year USD made a set of triple tanks in a housing and what the value of them would be? I have found a set locally and am thinking about checking them out. The housing looks good in other photos I have. Is there any particular part that may be missing that I need to be aware of or common problems with them?

Have not see them yet. Any idea what ones were "bad" and how to tell the difference? I am aware of the aluminum 6351 alloy but I am not sure the years it was used and by which manufacturer. Even then, they can still be hydroed and vised, my LDS is on of the few who actually understand that and does not blanket reject pre 90s tanks

It was the mid 86. They are a nice set. The housing requires a special BC or the tanks can be mounted by themselves to a standard backpack. Search USD ABS (Advanced Breathing System)

If you decide to pass on them I may be interested.

Well I own them. The tanks look almost new. They are S30 Luxfers, 3/88 dates on them. Guess than makes them the 6351 alloy but what the heck. The housing is in good shape, a little dirty but otherwise undamaged. The assembly appears to attach to a BP of some varity with 5/8 bolts/studs. Anyone have any info on the back pack and how it was attached. Also, there appears to have been some type of fasteners to hold the upper end of the case together, any clues to what they were?
A DH reg will not fit so guess I will have to dive them with those funny regs with the 1 skinny hose.:)
