odd bits to ID and a depth gauge question

Thu Sep 15, 2011 7:01 pm

Along with a DH I picked up these odds and ends. The exhaust tee says La Spirotechnique, Made in France and looks like it is screwed into the reg body. Very thin... I'm curious about the reg model and yet, Does anyone need them?

Also, this DG. Says Dive Master but was that a brand or a model? I assume I remove the screw in the lens to add oil (?) but what kind of oil to add? I will keep this though

Dale, the mouthpiece and tee sure look like 60's US Divers, but the diaphragm doesn't look related.

I think that the o-ring sealed screw on the face of the depth gauge was to equalize the internal pressure to ambient and calibrate to temp and maybe altitude. Sounds strange, but I think I recall those being advertised that way. Of course it could have just been to add oil as needed like you said!

Thanks for the direction for the tee. I'll look in the catalogs.
I don't know about the screw really. It just looks like the only place to add oil. If it can be done. I didn't want to tamper with it till I asked. As it is it has a quarter sized bubble of air :(

Humm... 63-64 Calypso perhaps?
There's a reg on this site called a Star France (3/4th down the page) that has a very close copy of the tee.

That's so you can tell which way is up!

I thought that was what the arrow on the compass was for.

Just speculating but a lot of gauges used glycerine. If it takes oil, I suspect that would work. I bought some at a drugstore for a gauge a few years back. I reckon somebody here can tell you for sure.

The exhaust Part No. 113310 and mouthpiece Part No. 113296 are from a "SPIRO" AQUILON reg circ. 1965. Hope that helps .

Thanks BJ, They're still available if anyone needs them.

I filled the DG and took it for a nice dive today. It worked ok to 44' max D anyways. The depth was a little off compared to my Gekko by about 3-5'.
