Schooner Fleetwing ice dive

Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:25 pm

Image

The schooner Fleetwing lies in Garrett Bay which is just west of Gills Rock Wisconsin. I dove it yesterday through the ice which was about 2 feet thick. The Air temp was 11 and the water temp was a balmy 30. My Phoenix was the only regulator that did not freeflow! Here's a pic of myself and diver Fred having a cold one after a cold one. By the way, I had these two beers in my dry suit pockets during the dive. They were well chilled!!!

No video, but I did shoot some pic's with my little Cannon Powershot.

The few underwater shots I got leave a bit to be desired. Not the camera's fault. Operator error. I forgot to turn on the flash unit before going in. OOp's!

I'm guessing it was the Miller High Life they are holding in the picture.....I could be wrong though.....

Miller High life it was! I suppose to be vintage I should have had one of those Schlitz '60s formula beers, but the twist tops might mess with my dry gloves! LOL

I think you just put your suit on and go walk around in your back yard and get drunk. Take some snaps and then try to fool us into thinking you actually got into the water------ .

Nemrod is the only guy who actually hates cold water (and poodle gear) more than Brian or me.
