Legends of Diving Portage Quarry DVD

Mon Nov 15, 2010 7:16 pm

I've had this project on my hotlist since August. I've had lot's of idea's and finaly put them together into a production. I may have uploaded the final result to Vimeo. However my computer is pretty vintage and I can no longer even view my own Vimeo site. There are a few aspects of this video that probably shouldn't be widely broadcast anyway.
The video starts out with the obligitory tour of the attractions that you will see diving Portage Quarry. There is some fun stuff there as well as photogenic Bass and Sunfish.
The second half of the video deals with the evil Spectre watermellon and it's interactions with OO secret agents armed with devices that even Q himself would be proud of.
If you wish to get a copy of this video, e-mail me at [email protected] and give me your name and address and I will ship you one out. This offer is open to all forum members whether you attended Portage 2010 or not. There is no charge for the video. I'll even pick up the postage! Such a deal! This is my contribution to the Vintage dive community. Besides, the whole project is fun for me. So, shoot me your address so we can all share the video!

I just viewed the DVD and it is absolutely great. However, the commercial at the end made me pee my pants. So for you Vintage divers be sure to get a fresh Depends for this Jim Bach production. It is a real winner. Thanks Jim.

Jim, I just realized that the DVD was in the mailbox all night! I raced out in my bath robe and slippers retieved and watched it. AWESOME! Thanks for making it and as usual your video skills are top notch. Can I send you some money to offset the cost that you had from shipping, time, and materials?

Take a bow SwimJim!!!

Jeff should be sending these out to everyone in promotional packages. Great stuff Jim...I really like your advertisement at the end. I used to live in the hood but compared to yours mine was Green Acres!!!
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

I was thinking about sending a copy to Jeff, although I wasn't sure if he had a sense of humor when it came to mysterious holes in the wing tip of the Lear jet!
I've had more than one person ask if I wanted a few bucks to defray costs. It really isn't necessary. How's this; send a donation to Vintage Double Hose.com for the American Heart Association. I believe that's the charity Bryan usually donates to. Would that work Bryan?
Seriously, this was a fun project for me. Hopefully it will remind folks of the good times we had and help introduce some new people to the group.

I just finished watching my DVD a short while ago, and really enjoyed it. In fact Roxann (my wife) sat and watched it with me, and she thought it was very well done. Now; you really have to try to understand what you've accomplished here, and it's much harder to understand than you can imagine. Rox actually sat down and watched a DVD that involved "SCUBA STUFF" as she refers to it (that's one of the things she calls it), and ENJOYED IT, AND COMPLIMENTED IT! :o :) :D All I can say is; is a job very well done! 8) It brought back some very good memories that were nice to relive. THANKS again Jim! Terry

Jim, the free DVD was an extremely nice gesture, but suggesting that we make a donation to the AHA (via VDH) is without question a super classy move indeed.

Well done my friend! 8)

I finally got to watch the DVD. I had to rest after seeing Rob run out in his bathrobe in the rain :)
Jim it is very well done. I was so sorry that I couldn't be there this year, I was so ill. Now I feel like I was there, and then some. You know me, I'm no distance diver, and you shot footage of some things I had never seen before.
I really enjoyed it and hope to make it next year.
