Anyone have any mk10 parts? I believe the piston knife edge is damaged. Under a light it is not circularall the way around and one edge is flat. Anyone I am getting high IP at 3000 psi and IP creep. Without shims its starts at 145 and climbs passed 160 and I shut it off. With 2 shims and at 300psi it held at 125.

If you decide to scrap it, I'm looking for a MK-10 spring..... possibly other parts too.

You have 2 ways to go

1. replace the Piston

2. update do Mk 10plus via retrofit kit. This allows you to update to TIS coldwater kit - otherwise you still have to stick to SPEC grease

Let me know if I can help you in any means

best regards
frank

Im going to furthur inspect the knife edge and see if I can polish it to remove any imperfections. Then i'll go from there.

So where does one get a replacement piston? Ebay has some but they are for the mk10 plus. Also, does the seat need to be flat or concave?

10+ uses a different seat (MK-20/25), and the piston has a "tib" (thermal insulation bonnet) snapped on it (as you can see, those e-xxy pistons are different). The different seat needs a different seat carrier, the 10 seat will not work with the 10+ piston. There is also a spring alignment bushing that sits in the body for the 10+. IIRC, one of the o-rings at the seat is also not used.

The 10+ is not a sharp edged piston, the 10 is.....

I just learned a whole bunch of this while working on a 10+ that was sold as a 10 to me, and was also a complete wreck. Hence my inquiry of the spring should you abandon your quest....

I have several NOS springs and pistons for the mk10. Message me if you're still looking.
