Huge forum update

Fri Dec 22, 2017 11:00 pm

All,

We updated the forum two minor versions, which was a heavy lift. All the custom tweaks that Slide Arts did will be applied soon, and then everything will appear normal.

Enjoy.

Wow! Being the pessimist, I too thought the world had ended. That must be one incredible effort to do what you guys are doing. Funny part was I got an email notice of a PM that took place a long time ago.

Thanks for the work!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The store isn’t down. It is closed. Bryan is doing annual inventory and changing out items.

The forum is done. I, via my horrible 9th grade CSS skills, have customized the VDH template. Here are some relevant things:

-I hid everyone's last names, state, and cities. It will help prevent identity theft. Your first names are displayed so that people don't call you something ludicrous at vintage diving events. Your "location" will also display, and it is up to you to populate that. I limited mine to my region, because I don't want someone to wear my face like a mask someday.

-On your mobile device (phone, Ipad) the VDH logo will take you to the homepage. Remember that. I didn't want to put a TINY menu on your mobile phone. When in doubt, click the VDH logo and it will take you home. Yes, it even works for people who use AOL and think that 1997 is not a long time ago.

-On your laptop/desktop, there is in drop down menu next to the VDH logo that will take you to any single page on the site. This is to prevent whining.

The forum is better than ever, safer than ever, and simpler than ever. Enjoy, and safe vintage diving to you all.

With Tapatalk I get a "network error" when I try and log in. Same error regardless of network I'm on (work, home, cell...).

Ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Sorry, I did not grammar correctly in my reading. It's not my fault. I was left unsupervised. :P

Thanks Ron...... I know PHBB is frustrating and you got thrown into a big mess with it a couple of weeks ago. Like Mark, I use Tapatalk mobile most of the time but I do appreciate that you are trying to make the form shell look like the rest of the forum rather than the generic one. If my customer support was as bad as Tapatalk fixing our forum would be the least of our worries! Again, this is nothing that should disturb your Scotch and Cigar time!
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
