Re: How to add a picture in your post

Here is what I found from experimenting with various jpg files:

At around 68K (540x720 @72dpi), the file will be saved and posted and the "place inline" box will appear

From there, up to around 126K (2040x2720 @ 240dpi), the file will post, but not be saved under the "Attachments" tab and the "Place inline" box will appear.

Above about 128K (2210x2947 @ 260dpi), it will neither save, nor post and the "place inline" box is missing.

I searched the PhpBB forums and found a code modification for this particular version of PhpBB. Try attaching things now. Apparently there is a known issue with the current build of PhpBB tracked here:

https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2453611

Try fiddling with attachments now and see if that works. Keep in mind that I'm not a Php developer, so I'm really just using tips from other people.

For those of you using Windows 7, which is now almost 10 years old, and less secure than Windows 10, I would encourage you just as a generally smart security idea, to move to something more modern like Windows 10. If I had access to your machine I could dump your SAM file and steal your identity in about 3 minutes with a thumb drive. Tons of malware affects Win7 that does not affect Win10.

Here's at least one source for you about that:

Old scuba gear is really cool. Old operating systems are like Kwikset locks on your front door of your house.

This is a large attachment followed by a small one, and it worked for me:

What's the haps gents? Is it working? Is it not working?

Here's a use case for you if you need one:

-Try to attach 3 pictures of various sizes and place them inline.

Try again....nope.
Tried ADD FILES and while it seemed to pick up the file and load it, it does not appear.
I guess Windows 10 is in my future.

The file size limit is 5MB, so that isn't it. It's not a function of the size. You guys are uploading files in kilobytes and you are allowed to upload files up to 5MB, which 5,000KB.

The 165KB file...what extension is it and what is it called? What is the name of the file?

I need more information in order to solve this. Here is a screen shot:
Capture.JPG
You click attach, which is #1.

You click add files, which is #2.

What is the result of #2 with these specific files that you are trying that do not work?

Post screen shots. I've literally tried everything I can think of. I tried maxing out the file names, and I just uploaded a 32 character length picture. I also uploaded a 2MB picture. I also uploaded a picture with spaces in the names in case the uploader wouldn't take spaces. All of those things work for me. I literally cannot get this to not work.

Also, for those of you running Chrome or Firefox, do you have any plugins enabled? Examples: Popup blocker, ad blocker, HTML5 autoplay blocker, etc. If you do, disable every single one. Hit Control+F5 to force a hard refresh. Try uploading pictures.

For your "magic" picture that won't upload. Try renaming it to something short like "test.jpg." If that doesn't work, open the picture and take a screen shot of it, then post the screen shot of the picture in case there is any bad meta data in it.
