Need help with J-valve disassembly

Members,

I am attempting to disassemble my just- purchased U.S. Divers J-valve. Quick question: How do I remove the internal brass "switch" reserve part? You know, that part that "clicks" on/off? (See 2nd pic.)

Thanks in advance.

Unless there is some corrosion in there it should come out with a little gentle help from needlenose pliers. If not, maybe a good soak in vinegar or CLR & hot water about 50/50 (not overnight... and hour or two should do the trick)
Good luck, and keep us posted on your results.

As I recall, it just sits in there.

Yep, they usually just fall out.

Yes, thanks, everyone. I posted this same question over on SB, and Luis H. suggested I gently use needle-nose pliers--which I did. The resistance I originally felt (before I posted yesterday) was due to some old and thickened grease that was packed around the spring of the reserve mechanism. I decided to ask before I forced things and ruined anything.

Everything is apart, and clean (I used 409 since I was out of Simple Green), and now ready to be reassembled.

Thanks again.
