Sort of a beginner here, but off to a good start - Here's a few things in my collection I'd like to show off. Fisrtly, I have a Healthways Scuba Deluxe - the 'Nash Rambler of Double Hose Regs', as I've heard it been called. This was my very first rebuild project and I'm super happy with how it turned out. I'd like to thank Rob from the Scuba Musem, Bruce from BAR Plating, and the many others in this forum and beyond that helped me with the project.
Here's how it originally looked (disassembled) when I got it:
Things done:
- Cans rechromed (Thanks to BAR Plating)
- New Silicone Diaphragm (Thanks to the Scuba Museum)
- New O-rings in main valve assembly (Thanks to the Scuba Museum)
- New gody gasket (Again, thanks to the Scuba Museum)
- New Outlet Mushroom Valve (The Scuba Museum)
- New EPDM 1" Hoses (Thanks to the Vintage Double Hose Store)
- Replaced original neoprene mouthpiece with a superior Hope-Page (Is there anything you
can't get from The Scuba Museum?)
- New Trident Gum Rubber Mouthpiece (Vintage Double Hose Store)
- Added Tinnerman Clamps (stolen off an MSA Gas Mask Hose!
)
- Adjusted Diaphragm Lever
Next up I have an item that doesn't classify as double hose, but is a nice piece of vintage equipment. Here we have a German Dräger Vollgesichtsmaske Modell 60 (Dräger R60) FFM from the 1960's (mine is dated '65). The mask has 40mm threads on the side like a gas mask for a PA38 Second Stage (or some other 40mm second stage reg), which mine was interestingly enough modified for standard first stage regs, but the insides are so gnarly, it's unusable. I can get an unissued replacement, but it's not compatable with standard first stage lp threads, and plus I'm too involved with double hose for now.
Supposedly these were used by both commercial divers and the German and Dutch militaries. Mine has a built-in microphone (fried and unusable), so I kinda assume mine's a military model based on that, but not entirely sure. This microphoned model would be used in conjuntion with a Dräger 'Schwimmtaucheranzug' hood that has a built-in earphone and a 'Taucherfernsprechanlage' T5520 Diver's Telephone, both of which I do not have. Interestingly enough, I see more gas mask collectors with these (with gas mask filters screwed on!) than I do in the hands of vintage diving gear collectors...
