Wazee Dive Report May 2-3

Mon May 05, 2025 5:00 pm

Wazee Dive Report
- Ron Sheriffdiver got in 2 dives on Friday before getting rained out. He stayed over and went diving with Rich and I on Saturday. Weather wasn't too cold and at least it wasn't raining.
- Dive #1 I used my Yellow Twin 38s and toured the usual attractions at the Sherwood forest location. Viz was about 20 feet... NOt bad. We dove about 20 minutes and I only use 600 psi of my 1800 psi starting pressure. So, I used the same tanks for my 2nd dive... This time along the shore bank among the many fish cribs. Really funny they put so much effort into those things and there's hardly a fish in sight. Rich was getting low on air so we made this another 20 minute dive and it was about 1:00 PM when we came out. My bless-ed Twin 38s still had 700 psi (after two dives and starting with 1800 psi).
- We met a couple of Dive Professionals... Tech Instructors who were diving their full technical outfit just for the fun of it. It was nice visiting with them. We were complimentary of their gear and they were equally polite about our "Old S**t". I don't think they realized that our stuff is all Hydro'd, Inspected, and re-built like new. AND. we had probably one-upped them by having our own compressors... They were stuck using a dive shop's fill equipment.
- Facing a 4 hour drive home, we decided to call it quits and hit the road. It was surely fun!

- Sorry I forgot to report on the regulators I used. Before leaving, I test breathed several regs. The latest HPR came along. And the afternoon before we left, I re-tuned my "Mystery Mess" Cyclone HPR... down to .5" cracking effort and 1.5 secondary ports blocked... So I had to bring that along to test it. Both of these regs worked superbly. The HPR with the diverter worked fine once I now know how to clear water from the mouthpiece (easy... just a little different).
- The Trieste and TitanII/Trieste... I test breathed them before deciding what to bring. The Trieste (small cans)was a little disappointing but I think I just need to tune it up like Bill AntiqueDiver does. The Trieste/TitanII (large cans) worked GREAT.
- Yes I planned to bring a bunch of regs to try out but with only two dives of 20 minutes, not much time to try others. However, it gives me more time to tune up the other regs before the next trip... Which is Fortune Pond the weekend of May 30-31. I will try to get the Trieste tuned up and tested at Fortune!
