What Is Sand Dog?

What is the Sand Dog 2.0 Event?

- I received this question in my messages and thought the answer should be posted for the general audience...

"Sand Dog" is a big get together of Vintage Equipment Divers. The Sand Dog name goes back to the first event when the hot dogs got spilled into the sand (that's how I heard it.) These events don't happen regularly and we never know if there will even BE another one. The first ones were held at various locations. Then there were the Sea Hunt Forever events held at Silver Springs and I don't think there were any Sand Dog events during that time. The last Sea Hunt Forever event was about 5 years ago and this latest "Sand Dog 2.0" is the first nationwide get together we've had since then.

Here's a link to the Official Announcement and information...

Just to expand on your post Eben. Sand Dog and Sea Hunt are two different kettles of fish. The Sand Dog event anyone could attend. You could dive anytime you want in any gear configuration . Sea Hunt is an invitation only event. You are required to dive Sea Hunt era kit. It is held at Silver Springs where the show was produced. You dive in shifts and there are divers in the water at all times. It's almost work! Lol
