Phoenix diving deep off the Texas coast

From our friend Ernie diving the rigs off the gulf coast.

Bryan
I had replaced my old hoses with your hoses
with the fusion tape and zip ties as recommended. I've had dives to
160 + and some in pretty bad current with no problems at all from the
dbe. The hoses along with the fusion tape bond so well, that I doubt I
really need the zip ties. In fact, they are a real pain to get off the
horns when soaking the reg in fresh water after dives.
I,ve sent a couple of pictures taken on one recent dive. I had to
change them to B&W because we're better at spearfishing than taking uw
photos. The originals were so blue it looked like uw smurfs

This is the inexpensive version and works pretty good.

The real deal is by 3M and is expensive.
3M Tape

Follow the directions on the tape...Put about 2 wraps around the horns and slip the EPDM hoses over the horns. Let it set a while and it's almost like it bonds all into one. Ernie uses this because his hoses take so much abuse on the rigs and rough dive boats. EPDM hoses are not as soft or flexible nor do they look period correct like the silicone hoses do. But they are tough as nails and wear like iron. If I had rental 2 hosers I would put them together with fusion tape, EPDM hoses and 150lb zip ties...

Ernie and his Phoenix strike again !

Bryan
My phoenix has never let me down! I know it will always deliver the
air I need irregardless of the depth or how much the fish kicks my
butt trying to get it on the boat. I got this grouper yesterday at 140
ft. Weight back at the marina was 86lbs.
Thanks again Bryan for the phoenix and epdm hoses. They are tough!

The 3M self adhering tape is common in the aerospace world. Never thought to use it to bond my hoses but that is a great idea!

Thanks for keeping the EDPM hoses available for those people who need a super tough hose. They may not be pretty but they are tough as nails.

Great looking adventures, nice fish too!
