Underwater Review 1963

Wed Apr 12, 2017 2:54 am

During a web search today I came across "a special issue of the journal of the Exploration Society to mark the completion of five years' diving at the Imperial College":

Imperial College, University of London, is a highly respected institution of higher education here in the UK capital, particularly renowned in the field of natural sciences. This 26-page document provides an interesting insight into multidisciplinary scientific diving expeditions of the late 1950s and early 1960s. It can be viewed or downloaded as a PDF file at https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperi ... ew1963.pdf. There are two pages of period ads towards the end of the publication.

Back in the day when divers went on EXPEDITIONS.....Very nice piece of history, I'm putting a copy in the Manuals and Catalogs section for future access. They were diving in a lot of very interesting places from Antarctica to mines. With S.O.S and Sieve Heinke as sponsors/advertisers. Nice find!
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
