“A skin diver is a fellow who pulls on a pair of fancy swimming trunks, some rubber fins, a diving mask and canvas gloves, then fills his lungs with air and noses down into the ocean looking for two fisted trouble.”

Maybe we can get Mr Wilson to give us some details on the mask and Fins Captain Cousteau and the gang are using?

I wonder if Bernie did any of the camera work on the Sealab part?

There was a brief close-up on the Captain's fins:

Cousteau wore many kinds of fins in his work and even designed one for a US Patent. I am tempted to say that those pictured above are Churchills:

However, there appear to be two ribs radiating from the toe end of the foot pocket on the base of the fin where the drain hole is. I don't see this feature on any of the asymmetrical Churchill lookalikes of the early 1950s such as the Pirelli-Superga, Champion and Barakuda.

As for masks, I can't get a clear enough image to identify a brand. If anyone can find a clear image, please post it and I'll do my best. This said, early oval masks with rim bolts can look remarkably similar at a distance, making it very difficult to narrow down the possibilities. The fact that early 1950s films are monochrome is another factor making identification hard.

If I get a breakthrough, I'll be sure to post what I've found.
