RIP Bryan Pennington

Sun Oct 09, 2022 1:08 am

I and others I have spoken with tonight have no words.

You were loved and will be missed.

I stared at this for a long time, trying to think of what to say - how to convey how shocked I was at hearing of his passing. He was a pillar of the community, and it is with a heavy heart that I bid him goodbye.

Rest well, Bryan.

Very hard to believe... I have such great memories from our Silver Springs / Sea Hunt trip and also the Sand Dogs I was able to attend. So much fellowship with such an unlikely cast of characters.... the somewhat eccentric Bryan Pennington reluctantly leading a band of even more eccentric, middle-aged, vintage scuba groupies... Damn. I'm very greatful for those adventures and time spent with you all; and I am truly sad to know the the ornery, reluctant, king of Vintage Double Hose, World Wide is no longer an email away. Something I have stressed to my son since he was little is to every day, make some sort of positive difference in the world. Bryan, you reignited a flame in my life, that is something I have been very fortunate to be able to share with others. Thank you, profoundly, for that. We are poorer for your loss, but many times richer for your memories.

Thank you, Fred Zahn

I was shocked when I heard about this Saturday. Bryan just emailed me Thursday and I did not see this coming. Sad days.

This such very sad news. Bryan was a modern day diving pioneer and innovator. He made so many products with the help of others to make the old double hose regulators way more awesome then they were when they were brand new. His invention of the Kraken while I never got the chance to buy one was a new redesigned regulator that he put lots of time and money into to bring the diving community something amazing. I sure hope that VDH never goes away and that some one or some people continue his legacy and take the business over. He started something that can never be replaced and has to continue
Someone told me that diving a double hose reg will kill me. I had no idea these things were dangerous.

Truly shocking. He was a pioneer and a pillar of the community. More than that the community would not be what it is without him. My sincere condolences to his family.

Trying to process his untimely passing. He was an innovator, a businessman, a wonderful family man, a hell of a diver and someone I'm glad to have been able to have a beer with. RIP Bryan. Hugs and prayers to his family.

He will really be missed. Now we cannot post to chat with him. I will always remember his Shanghai voyage on that Nautilus submarine off Waikiki.
