WEIGHT BELT

Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:30 pm

Got this Aqua Lung US DIVERS weight belt the other day.
Have been trying to find the year it was offered.
I can find the 2" nylon stretch webbing belt in the 1975 catalog, but not the buckle.
Thought it was neat with the cam buckle and attachment points on the slides.

The weightbelt may be item G in my copy of the 1976 US Divers catalogue:

I like the "loops" hanging down from the belt tighteners. I have not seen these before, and I cant see then in the catalog pick. Were these offered by USD or are they an add-on?

They look like they were probably added after.
There are marks in the loops that look like someone crimped them on with pliers or some thing.
All the bends in the buckle are smooth no marks.
Thinking of using the belt on the waist of my plate.

Pre D-Ring Thinker-Diver... Pretty neat idea. We use the modern D-Ring Keeper on our Vintage belts where we can attach clip weights to equalize buoyancy. We get down to the big rock at Fortune Pond and will often unclip a 2 lb weight and leave it there until we get back. I wonder if your original weight belt owner was doing something similar with those hanger loops.
