Greg, George, and more at Blue Springs today.

Well, it was a hot day at Blue Springs today, over 90 degrees. We all suited up and did 3 dives in the warm low viz water. Greg dived his trusty 50 Fathom and I dived my Green Vr1 and my newest broxton with one hose assembly. I must say that the Broxton I bought off of Slonda breathes very nicely. Well, done Slonda, well done. We did about 2.5 hours total underwater and the last 2 dives in swimsuits. Greg and I had a contest to see who was crazier and would swim the deepest past the thermocline in swimtrunks. I "won" with a max depth of 42 feet and a nice icecream headache, OUCH! Greg has a nifty new camera that shoots video and nice photos. Hopefully he will post some of the pics here later today. George was showing off one of his new 50 fathoms today. He made a major VOIT score. I will let him brag about it later. I think Greg, George and myself are all fine tuned for PORTAGE quarry. We can't wait WOOHOO!

Yes indeed, Sunday was a great day for diving Blue Springs. It's very relaxing diving, warm, the upper-most water was 87 degrees Fahrenheit, several very large bass (for Indiana), I'd say around 4-5 pounds each. Always a pleasure to share a quarry, lake, river or ocean with Rob and Greg. Look out Portage, there will be a Voit invasion in about 10 days.

Did you see any of the sponsored fish? The spoonbills? Oh I hope so.

Rog,

Seeing as I had ponied up a General Grant for the privilege of releasing a spoonie, I was actively searching for the big monsters. No luck. I think that when they hear our scuba equipment they head for the middle of the quarry. Might have some luck finding one while free diving, but then again, might not.

Here are a few pictures from our dives in Blue Springs. Unfortunately, the vis was not conducive to photography. The young man is my oldest son, Ryan. He is an infrequent diver, and has not yet developed the vintage gear bug. Rob did a HD video of Ryan and I buddy breathing from my chromed Voit 50 Fathom.

All in all, a very relaxing day. That is... Until a bluegill bit one of my nipples! I was half afraid to look to see if it was still attached.

Spoonbills?!?!?! You mean those 4-5' things laying motionless on the bottom weren't ironing boards?

Nah, just screwing with you, Rog!
