For my 2 cents. I was looking for the flexibility. I dont think you need to plan on outfitting yourself like a Christmas tree, but the ability to easily add and remove secure attachment points whereever you want them always seemed like a big benefit to me.

I know you do a lot of diving so I'll send some your way tomorrow. Check out the net for the gozillion items you can experiment with using on it. Most of the carabiners and clips are a couple bucks each.
End of summer you can give the forum an update and some photos if you can.

Thank you

Hmmm, so I've been "volunteered" again. :D Everyone around me took one step back. Happy to do it. To paraphrase the old Life Cereal commercial, "Let's get Markie to do it, he'll dive anything." :D Send it on over. Mark.

out of curiosity, how do you deal with the continuous center loops with things like buckles (both threading it, and the "tongue" end for the clasp/pinch)? Would you cut it off?

As a side bar, a number of the DiveRite accessories (knives, shears, etc.) would mount very easily on the harness (vs. their pockets) as they use this style of attachment. Interesting.....

The MOLLE nylon is thin and has posed no problems for me using any type of buckle, slider or clip that would be used on standard scuba webbing. I have tried narrow weight sliders, wide sliders as are used on the VDH plate, metal and nylon buckles all go on/off and can be moved around like on any other harness. If for some odd reason or circumstance there was a particular spot you didn't want the MOLLE section you could simply cut the stitching that the MOLLE is attached with, cut the section out with a razor, touch it with a soldering iron to prevent it from fraying into the next section of MOLLE and go back to business.
For the most part the MOLLE lies flat and you don't notice it's any different than normal webbing.

The idea of not having to unthread the harness from the plate to remove or install something and the ability to quickly change where something is located is worth it to me. A molle weight belt with weights that could be quickly added or removed would be great instead of having different weight belts for every different equipment configuration. Hint, hint Bryan.

Captain,

I really like the idea of removable weights. I took a look on-line and I didn't really see a MOLLE clip/fastener that would work for that purpose. I'm all for experimenting so I was curious if you had any ideas in that regard. Mark

....ahhh, pockets and shot weights? but that's getting pretty far afield from vintage equipment... :? to each his own.

Talking about cotton harness and B4 masks would be pretty out of place in the Modern Era Double Hose Diving section don't you think?

Your results may vary but I tried weight pockets on my harness and hated it. I used XS Scuba weight pockets and the large black clips to keep them in place. I never felt like I got it centered or balanced correctly. I went to using a rubber belt with vintage bail style buckle and have been happy with it.

I consider myself more of a double hose diver than a vintage diver.

I never change my setup because it's way too much trouble for what I do. With a webbing system like this it would seem pretty easy to swap solo/budy configurations. Don't think it's a must to me, but doesn't hurt either. Would've gotten it in the first place if I had the chance.
