DSV Mouthpiece___Mouthpiece Options?

Sat Oct 31, 2015 1:11 pm

We are going to try a few different types of mouthpieces on the DSV in Cozumel so I can decide which to have available when you purchase your DSV.

Silicone Apex style, Comfort Bite, Seacure moldable, Long Bite.

Thoughts......ideas......Preferences?

Most popular at the shop are the Apex and Comfobite.

I'd go for the comfo-bite. I find that the long-bite feels funny towards my molars after some time.

I have the Apex style on most of my equipment.... always been curious as to the others, but never tried them.

(oh, and the one Apex style can have red bite tabs for those accessorizing....)

FWIW _ why not just let us put the one we want on it when we get it?

You will be able to put on your own, and order without a new mouthpiece if you like, but I need to have inventory available for divers who want a new or different mouthpiece when they order their new DSV.

My favorite by far is the original Aqualung Comfo-bite, I think it is exactly the same as the Apeks version but rebadged. There are other silicon versions on the market made in Taiwan and designed to accommodate non Aqualung/Apeks size mouthpiece tubes (like Scubapro for example) but these are too soft and useless IMO.
I have Comfo-bites on everything and a couple of spares.
Curious also about the hose weights I see Luis using, are these or something else going to be available to counteract any increased DSV buoyancy?
Thanks and looking forward to the roll-out!

The one on the left looks like what came with my HOG regs. I really like those. Second left I have tried and do not care for.

My Conshelf 14 came with the comfort bite and I replaced it with a long bite mouthpiece from the VDH store. I have an older clear silicone comfort bite that I use, but the newer one seems to be made of a softer silicone and just didn't feel secure enough.

I think an Apex style mouthpiece with red inserts on the bite tabs would look pretty wicked when connected to some red Kraken hoses....
