Preparing to rebuild my first J-Valve and wondered what others have used for a home based cleaning solution. I don't have access to a ultrasonic cleaner so it will pretty much just be soaking. Thanks.

For salt and verdigris I use Salt X, hot water ,Simple Green and a bolt brush. Give the parts a good long soak and thorough rinse and you should be ready to re assemble

FWIW you can buy an ultra sonic cleaner pretty cheap. Check Amazon.

Harbor Freight has an US cleaner in the $80 range...and if you watch they always have specials and coupons. Be sure to get the larger one since you will want to do DH cans. For a cleaning solution, I use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, Just don't let it set too long, it will attack chrome if it's not in good shape.

Thanks Herman, I'll keep a eye on the Harbor Freight specials.
