A rep from one of the largest valve suppliers for steel and aluminum scuba cylinders told me earlier today they are seriously considering a new J-valve specifically for the "Retro" market as he described us. Supposedly it's on the drawing board and he would keep me posted.

Wow! Perhaps we're not as "niche" as we thought before!

Whole industries have sprung up to supply any number of retro or vintage interests. Reproduction parts for long gone cars come to mind as one of the largest. If a demand is sensed to be there someone will step up to fill it. There are more Rochester mechanical fuel injected 1957 Chevrolets on the road today then were ever built by Chevrolet in 1957 thanks to the retro parts industry

I will be interested in seeing what they sell for. Currently the military are still using the USD j valves and they are selling for hundreds of dollars apiece. Kind of like the $5,000.00 hammer. I would not pay much for a reproduction retro one when I there are so many used J-valves I can pick up for 15 bucks. If the price was right and they looked really cool then I might be tempted.
