Powder coating ???

Howdy Howdy forum members plz forgive me if this topic has been discussed bfore but does anyone know anything on powdercoating a scuba tank? Pros and cons ? What is powder coating to be exact? Ps i was informed this procedure includes heat ? Is this a good or bad thing for scuba bottles ? Thanx in advance best

It's a NO GO on aluminum cylinders due to the heat....Don't think it would bother steel cylinders but many advise against it..

Most powder coating cures at 350-450F. Unfortunately, 350F is the aluminum age temp for 6000 series aluminum alloys. So, get your tank up to 350 and you will start to change the metal crystal structure and usually cause the alloy to become brittle and stiff and ready to crack. Not something you want with 2000+ psi in it.
