DA Aquamaster Body Ring

Any tips on the removal of the body ring,

So far I have tried Hermins tools as well as hammer and draft.
With the only gain being the removal of brass from the ring itself, I was planning to order a replacement and just cut it off but decide to try the form first.

Thanks,

Propane torch and WD 40 or Aerokroil penetrate . Heat the ring and spray the penetrate. Cool and repeat if the ring is still stuck. Ideally it should be hot enough to cause the penetrant to boil and smoke.

Brass is soldered with much more heat than you will need. The horns where the hoses attach are silver soldered to the can using much more heat than you need to use on the ring.

I run into frozen body rings several times a month. Tom is the one who told me how to save them years ago. I have good success with letting them soak in WD and penetrating oil overnight and then try to remove them again without heat. Failing that, heat works fine if you need it.

Also, try tightening the ring. I know it sounds wrong but the ring is most likely corroded on and not over tightened. Moving it in the tightening direction changes the direction that you are applying force to break the bonds free with. If it gives at all, work it back and forth a few times, odds are it will free up fairly quickly once it moves a tiny bit. Be very careful with a drift, it's very easy to ding up the threads on the body.

PB Blaster penetrating oil is my best friend when it comes to stuck parts. Leave it sit overnight after a good soaking and the part will be free.
