SIMONBEANS, CONTACT ME PLEASE, SEND PHONE NUMBER, I NEED A HARNESS SET FOR A USD TRIPLE SET. I FINALLY FOUND A 40 CUFT. TANK.
DOES ANY ONE KNOW THE BEST WAY TO GET PAINT REMOVED FROM A GALV. TANK? SOME ONE HAD PAINTED THE TANK GREEN AND PRINTED OXYGEN ON IT. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.
I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD USE A CHEMICAL REMOVER, OR HAVE IT SANDBLASTED OR GLASS BEADED TO REMOVE THE PAINT DOWN TO THE ORGINAL GALV. FINISH.
I DON'T WANT TO HURT THE TANK, AS ALL THREE ARE IN DATE, AND THESE THINGS ARE A PAIN TO COME ACROSS.
IF I CAN GET THE VALVES SEATED WITHOUT A LEAK, THEY WILL BE DIVABLE.-----RON MILLLER-TENNESSEE [email protected]

I have used gel strippers ("Zip Strip", produced by Star Bronze Company) to remove paint from cylinders, with very good results. It will not harm the cylinder.

Then once u get the Allan Klauda master harness on them u can send them to me for in the water testing. If they are no good I will just keep them for you. :P
I hope they are ready for Portage quarry. They will be the talk of the event!!!

Once you have used the paint striper and have the tanks clean, apply Naval Jelly to the metal. (Use thick protective gloves, like with the stripper.) The galvanized coat will go from grey to silver, like it was when brand new. Any remaining paint should come off too. Some silicone spray will keep them looking new, but they will return to a nice petina after a while.

There may be a little rust around the neck, near the valve or manifold. This is caused by electrolysis between the brass valve and the steel tank. It occurs with any disimilar metals. The Naval Jelly may need to be reapplied to that area. A little rust preventing paint, in grey will stop it from reappearing.

Check to see what safety plugs are installed on the valves. The old bullets are dangerous as they become a projectile. The earlier tube shaped ones are worse. They blew in my triples and cased them to flip over.

Good Luck
