I was lucky enough to acquire these two regulators when i bought out a closing dive shops old inventory.

The Mares is Very Very rare and i am looking for any information so i can get it back in the water. The casing is stainless steel and had polished up a treat.

The Sea Lion is also rare.

Any help with drawings, exploded views would be appreciated.

Hi,

Try contacting the Momo Dive shop in Brescia, Italy and see if they can help with the Mares. The are at momodive.com , [email protected] . Make contact with the guys at BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) and ask around for help with the Sea Lion. The Brits still have parts for that reg. but you will have to hunt.

Sell them to a knowledgeable collector and take the family on a nice vacation. 99% of the dive shops in the world would have no idea what you are talking about and even if they did they wouldn't know a thing about the value of either regulator.

Most double hose regulators were made in the thousands. Buy a couple that parts are plentiful for. When done correctly they actually breathe good and are fun to dive with.

Wonderful detail on your website, Adairrj! I was particularly interested in the information you provided about Submarine Products (SB), which operated in Acomb near Hexham in the Tyne valley, about twenty miles from where I live in the North East of England. I see you list the foundation date of the company as 1957, when Lt. Cdr. Hugh Oswell was still in the Royal Navy. I wasn't aware that the firm began before 1959, by which time Oswell had moved to Hexham. There's a Facebook posting about Oswell at https://en-gb.facebook.com/HexhamRememb ... 8140685596
More Strange Facts About Hexham: 'Submarine Products' founded by Lt. Cdr. Hugh Oswell, in...You guessed it, Hexham. He opened his business in 1959 and was the first company in the UK to make S.C.U.B.A. (Self Contained, Underwater Breathing Apparatus) complete & ready for use.
The posting generated many responses from Oswell's family and workmates. You mention on your website that Submarine Products imported goods from the USA. That included the So-Lo Marx Skooba-"totes" drysuit, which was sold by SB in its original brown and yellow versions from 1959 and then from 1964 in a special dark green version. By the way, SB also carried French manufacturer Beuchat's diving products, including their full-foot Jetfin, their patented fin grips (called fixe-palmes) and their Tarzan wetsuits. Their main British competitor would have been Siebe-Gorman, which merged with Heinke in the early 1960s.

Here's the cover of Submarine Products' (first?) 1960 catalogue:

Thanks again for all you've written on your website about a company that used to operate in my part of the world!
