70's era round label clips

Customer sent me an E-mail about his sticker label Royal that has clips on it....He said he had read somewhere that sticker labels never had clips from the factory and wanted to know if I could install them so the regulator would be period correct....

Once again, information on the web is incorrect.....He didn't reference the source but they are wrong.... Below are images from 70's era USD catalogs clearly showing circle or sticker label regulator with clips.....One thing we have figured out about USD is that there are very few absolutes when it comes to double hose regulators....They never threw parts away and if they had parts available they probably used them on something.

I'm 99.9999% sure the regulator he has left USD with clips on it.....I hate clips but they were correct for thousands of regulators...

Were the USD band clamps chrome plated brass with a nut? plated steel? or SS with threads? or something else?
I don't believe I've seen an OEM one from USD, just your repros.

I sold USD stuff from 1967 to 1972, I never saw a double hose come through the shop with a band clamp.

Captain Tom is supported by the catalogs as well. The band clamp has, to my knowledge, been listed only as an option in the USD catalogs. It first appeared in the middle-late 1950's.

My 1971 round label RAM has a chrome plated brass band clamp with a press in panel nut. I believe the nut is stainless, but from what I can see the band is brass (there is also nothing magnetic in it, I can see a bit of yellow/ gold where the chrome is compromised and I have cleaned verdigris in the past).

The band clamp came with the regulator when I bought it (in 71).

In PR we only sold a few DH between 1971 and 1973. They all came with band clamps. I don't know if it was an option. I didn't do the ordering... I just sold them. I don't think it was listed as an option.

Band clamp ring vary in finish and plating quality. I have seen really great ones and some with the finish flaking off....kinda like regulators varied over the years in the same way. LaSpirotechnique clamp rings are the toughest and most well made in my opinion but would cost a fortune to duplicate in small quantities.
As it is now I have to buy 1000 at a time to get stainless in a price everyone can live with.

I bought a round label Aquamaster in June and it definitely had C-clips on it. It's got a band clamp now though! Hope to dive it on Sunday......

My RAM is a round label and it had C clips on it as well. Mine was also in its original box when I got it. I have since put a band clamp and heavy yoke on it, as it had the tire yoke originally.
