Vintage Double Hose

I've had these weird ideas in my head for some time on ways to make unique looking regulators and kinda came up with this idea. I personally think the horns on a Siebe Mistral look good and decided to permanently braze horns on here. Then decided to cut the exhause holes for every 2 to make the holes longer. I will eventually get it re-chromes and in working order but for now it will just have to stare on me at my computer station.

I can see using 45 degree elbows, but I think that the 90 degree elbows are going to interfere with you back when the regulator is in its proper position. You have already done it so you might as well try it, but before you chroming it, I suggest trying it.

Take that "post 1970" yoke and screw off and then resubmit your post in this forum section.

I have allready tried it with the 90 degree elbows on and it's fine. I typically use a bcd so the length and positioning isn't a problem. The only problem I do have is the nasty copper taste coming through the air. Chrom will fix that.

Is the post 70's yoke really an issue? I mean it's a yoke. But if you really want me to remove it I will.

Yes, this forum section was specifically reorganized for the few of us who try to remain pre-1970. The rest of the forum sections deal with "monsters" and modern innovations. We would like the threads to stay true to the description above the contributions.

Yes, there were pictures. It was an interesting modification. The type of modification that was much more commonly done in the vintage era, than in modern days. Modern PADI divers would never do a modification that involved soldering and cutting metal.

The issue was that it had the big knob (the one found in some of the round label US Divers DH regulators), but this section is specifically for pre-1970 regulators. Therefore, based on the rules, round label double hose regulators do not belong here.

IMO, the original poster should just cover the the yoke with a piece of paper and re-submit new pictures, but that is just a personal opinion.

- I just re-read the Pink section above and caught the "Pre-1970" reference. I have to admit, I haven't been thinking of this section by the date reference... Rather by original vs modernized double hose regs. Lots of DA and Royal Aqua Masters were post 1970 so I just never thought...
- Not that I disagree. If we don't draw a line somewhere, the "vintage" distinction will surely be lost. But I can sure see where Mk15Diver got led astray by several of my own postings and possibly others on special regulator projects.

Problem has been solved. The heavy yoke has been removed for pre 1970's purposed. The yoke was a Conshelf 14 heavy yoke and it has been changed to a RAM long yoke for this posting.
