...not odd paint but an unusual blue painted metal 50 Fathom.
It has 2 stage internals.
I haven't got my head around posting pics but here's a link to the other place that has my pics:

It's probably just a regular 50 with a Pico DAAM inside but I would be thrilled to find out for sure.

I'd call that regulator a Frankenstein. Looks like someone took a DA or Voit Navy, painted the body side blue to match the exhaust can and label. Could have been they did not know how to or did not have parts to service/repair the downstream mechanism which can be challenging. Only way to know for sure is to ask the person who did it to begin with.

Seeing the bubbling paint in the body side can tells a lot.

I see that.....I must admit that when I opened it up for the pics it still had water sitting in it from when I cleaned it nearly a year ago, no excuses for that, especially with the easy off clamp.
.....maybe I should pick under a bubble and see if there is chrome or brass under the paint. Where some paint has worn on this can on the outside it looks to be unchromed the same as the bottom can.

I have seen a lot of Voit blue cans with paint that is flaking off or is missing but never one with bubbles.
Greg has never said anything about this configuration nor is it written about in Ed LaRochelles History of Voit two hose regulators.
If it does not have tabs on the can then they simply enlarged the original single stage can and installed the two stage body. If it has tabs I'll bet its a respray of a DA can.

I get the impression that back then there were some Frankenstein regulators that might have originated right at the factory. It seems that sometimes they just put together stuff with what they had on hand.
The blistering is odd, but the rest of the paint job looks very much like the factory finish. Not just the color, but the texture looks to me just like the other can.
Back then color matching was an art... not the developed science they have now a days.
Like Bryan said, if the can has no tabs and the paint is missing from the edge of the hole, it may be an original single stage can that was modified.
If the can has tabs or the paint on the edge of the can is intact, I am guessing that this is a factory Frankenstein. A prototype or one of a kind that was put together for some reason that we may never find out.

Couple of more pics from outside.
I haven't looked under the 1st stage yet.

I've run across a chrome version of a 50 Fathom with a V66(DA) style internals.
