Why arent USD yokes interchangeable between single stage and 2 stage regulators? Is the diameter of the hole different?

The diameter of the hole in the two stage yokes is too large to work on the single stage regulators. Not enough contact area on the nut to be safe.

In addition to the hole diameter, there is an under cut on the 2 stage regs that is not cut into the single stage yokes so even if the holes were the same size, the single stage yokes would not work on the 2 stage regs. 2 stage yokes would work on single stage regs if the diameters were the same.

So few single stage yokes floating around I forgot all about that part!

My issue, and not a major one, is that my Spiro came with a long heavy style yoke thst works on my older valves with the banjo but not my new Thermo DIN/K valve. I think the screw out insert makes the Thermo a tad to thick. Almost 1" where as the the regular K valves are closer to .9" . I have a USD 2 stage long yoke I was going to use but the hole diameter is to small to allow the nut to sit flush.

Thermo valves with the DIN insert have frustrated a lot of vintage equipment divers trying to use banjo fittings. Perhaps you could swap someone who needs the DIN insert valve for a vintage/banjo friendly one.

I was just going to slap it onbthe tank so I could pressurize the reg, check for leaks and adjust the lever height. I normally use the DIN fitting on it as it is my bailout bottle.

So it's really a non issue unless you have a dive planned using a LaSpirotechnique Royal Mistral with a banjo fitting on a Thermo/DIN insert bailout bottle....
