I am new to the old and I have the new Aqua-lung Mistral. I dove it for the first time a month ago with Rob, Allan, Greg, & the GREAT BROXTON CHUCK.
After the dive I asked Chuck if he would service one of my many old 2 hosers. He said Yes!. I gave him my 1960 Mistral and he went thru it and made it dive worthy. I also had to have the Famous Broxton Chuck Banjo fitting. Well, I just got out of the local mud hole and the 1960 Mistral breathes and performs much better than the new Aqua-lung Mistral.
KUDOS to the GREAT BROXTON CHUCK!!!!!!!!

The only problem with the old Mistral is that it cannot be used at more than 2200ish psi and that of the couple of moving parts, the seat, is almost impossible to find. My 1958 Mistral also out performs my DA at pressures below 1500.
The local dive shop trashed several steel 72s. They would not sell them to me. I am kinda mad about that.
