Hey George, e-bay at the right place and time I guess. I am sorry, but they will be dove this weekend. If I could have found another set, I would have siliconed them up and packed them away for 20 years. I guess you just have to keep an eye out.

In the dollar bin at the local flea market.
Never rebuilt one of these before. How are they in breathing ease?

If you had a 3' long snorkel and a Trieste it would be hard to tell the WOB apart....

Talk to Commander Barlow.....He will get you on the right course....or as right as it can be with a Trieste.

One nice thing is that the mechanism will fit into a USD 2 stage can. The original can was too small and the resultant too small LP diaphragm didn't help either. And the shape of the LP diaphragm had a very poor shape that prevented it from flexing as it should have. Seems we did a lot of discussing this reg years ago.

Maybe I should make a "Tri-Master', sort of a poor man's Phoenix. 8)

I have rebuilt three to original condition and I thought they breathed rather well. If you run into problems (very rare) with the first stage seat being gorped out, you can do a direct replacement with a 1960s-70s Voit MR-12 first stage. The new silicon repro 2nd stage actuator diaphragm works well with this reg. (Bryan and Rob both have them available). I disagree with Alan in that It's not the size of the 2nd stage diaphragm, but how you tweak it ( the second stage) to get the best breathing results IMO. I set the 1st stages at 130 psi approximately. It's not the size of the can, but what it's packing (this correlates with the BS adage of "It's not the size of the ship, but the motion of the ocean." LOL! Just remember that Trieste haters DO EXIST! The truth is OUT THERE! SEE ABOVE!!! Trieste Haters are just mad that Voit stopped making full size cans during the Trieste era. AND THAT' BE DA TRUTH!  A great STEAL for a buck, bye the way.

Out this morning diving my '63 Sportsways twin 38's/42's with faux VR-1/Mistral. Zero vis on surface, 15 feet or so vis down at 30'.

Russ,

Not a Trieste hater, but the diaphragm is poorly shaped for best performance. It is a dome, one of the structurally strongest shape. As such, it doesn't react to inhaling, lever activation as well as the diaphragm on most other double hose regulators. The overall design is fine, except for the diaphragm. We have taken the "guts" and installed them in USD cans or one of Rob's plastic ones and it works fine. Luis did this years ago with the Voit MR-12 first stage, same as the Trieste minus the second stage and called it the Pegasus.

I am glad yours is a fine breather. Most, in original configuration, are not.
