Stolen!
From my den, from our home...
GOLD PLATED US DIVERS'S 2 HOSE DA AQUA MASTER
The front box is engraved as follows;
~ SAMUEL MILLER ~
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
OUTSTANDING UNDER WATER INSTRUCTOR
1969
It was presented to me by Mr Tommy Thompson on behalf of US Divers at the 1969 annual LA County Underwater Instructors Association banquet. I used it for a while, then retired it to the sanctity of my home where it had rested high on a shelf in total security for 15 years
TO ME, MY WIFE, MY CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN THE REGULATOR HAS GREAT PERSONAL HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE...
.............It also must have value to the thieves who stole it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It may appear on E bay --some where in the world. Those of you who monitor e bay world wide be on the alert for it. It would be appreciated if you would post and notify me direct.
To all vintage divers who read this forum. Spread the word on Sam's regulator. Look at your LDS and any you happen to visit. If is not hidden in the criminal's closet, he or she will be trying to sell it. It will be located if we work together on this. Sam, we will do our best for you as you have always had our vintage group in your best interest.
EVERYBODY KEEP A LOOKOUT FOR SAM!!!
Will definitely keep a watch out for it on eBay, ePier and everywhere else. All the west coast divers should watch for it in local dive and pawn shops as well. Sorry to hear about this Dr. Miller..
This might just be a way to id it, if you do not have the serial number or pictures:
Did you file a police report? I would frequent the local pawn shops also. Maybe pawn shops along the coast. Tim
I was advised by the authorities that it is a traceable item and like the rash of child abductions who often kill the child with in moments of abduction that the regulator has probably been tossed deep into a trash heap some where in the US or Mexico to avoid tracing it back to my wife and I. Naturally we are, and especially me, devastated. It was a very special award, one of a kind that I had been awarded in 1969- almost 40 years- and proudly displayed for the last 15 years in what I thought was a secure place in the den of my home. It was one of those heir looms that should have been passed down through the generations as grad dad's or great grand dad's Gold regulator....I hate crooks!
There is one area I would like to enlist the aid of any one who monitors foreign e Bay listings. There is a very slight chance that it might appear in the Spanish or Mexican E bay. There is even a greater chance that it just might appear in European e Bay. especially the French e Bay. So if you monitor those e Bays PLEASE be on high alert for it .
We are at a loss to comprehend WHY? Why would a thief want an award presented to another unless it was possibly thought to be extremely valuable or jealously of me winning the award -- only the crooks can answer that question..
I will take this opportunity to thank each and every one for your concern and helpful advice. It is comforting to realized their are good and great people like all of you populating this world. Believe me, I appreciate the support!
