Net Doc on scubaboard is asking about changing the name of the Sea Hunt forum. I suggested " Double Hose Regulator Era Equipment and Technique"

I also suggested it be a stand alone forum rather than a sub forum. Everyone chime in.

Thanks Captain.

I think we should all post over in the vintage section (at present the Sea Hunt) of ScubaBoard in a regular basis. It is intended for us and it is probably the best way to get some exposure to our particular interest in the sport.

If we want Bryan, Dan, and others to be able to continue making reproduction parts we need to continue to expand our group and ScubaBoard offers the largest exposure possible.

I think Bryan can confirm that just for the AHA regulator raffle some of the donors have come from exposure over there.

We have our own little section over there and we should all take advantage of it. I think it will help us all.

Just playing the devils advocate......By posting information in 3 places dosent it make it even harder to find what you are looking for ? Plus in my opinion it dilutes conversations...BUT.... I DO agree that promotion of our corner of the diving world is 1st and foremost for all of us......For me VDH will remain the place that I share information with everyone.

I absolutely agree that for any truly involved vintage equipment discussions this and VSS are the best web sites.

But, just like there is a tool for every job, ScubaBoard is a good place to reach many other divers.

We have a couple of great specialized web sites in our community, but when we need broader exposure or information it is a very good resource.

We have referred many divers from SB to VDH and VSS, and I think it would be good for our members to pay a visit over there every once in a while.

There is room and a purpose for all three sites. For the most part, the discussions are different on the three sites…there is some overlapping.

Actually, I also found a Spanish site that looks great…I just haven’t found the time to post there also. It is really neat to read about the diving discussions they have in Spain.
I will be posting about my search for the Spanish version of “Lets Go Diving” over there.

Luis, you are right to keep the SB site in operation as the vintage dive community does need new blood as does any hobby. I think that NAVED needs a little new blood also as it could be the binding orgainization for all vintage divers. I do not particpate in VSS anymore as the editing by the web mistress was terribly biased. (Most definitely her right as it is her forum). And it is also my right to not post. As long as all events and activities are noted on the forums, then they should be promoted. Sometimes VSS does not promote VDH activities IMHO.

If we can get it in the "scuba central" section rather than a sub forum of diving equipment it would be like having a recruiting office downtown on main street rather than one in a back ally across the tracks.

I would suggest that you just link it to the Vintage Double Hose forum. That is the number one vintage double hose diving forum and the place to get all your parts and needs for vintage double hose regs after all.

I AM SURE NETDICK WILL ERASE IT, BUT IT WAS DAMN FUNNY TO ME ANY WAY>

I would put the section right by the FNG/Stroke/NEWBEE section since the owner pointed out to people what poor diving technique Luis had while diving in Weekie.....  I'm JUST SAYIN!

I guess it's better to be talked about than not !

Maybe he had an epiphany and JYC appeared before him.

We can only hope so Tom....But I see it more of a playground for Luis and Nemrod to argue with people and for keyboard cowboys with internet bravery to talk nonsense about things they don't know about......But if we get a few good ones out of the batch it will all be worth it I am sure!!

It would be good to get more folks interested in vintage. But I'll stay right here. VDH owns all those other boards.. :)

Without going off the deep end, fine, give vintage and double hose a more prominant forum. I think this began in the thread that was on the General Equip forum and then it got moved to the Sea Hunt forum efven though the thread was more about using a double hose with modern gear than anything doing with Sea Hunt.

A lot of people thought the Sea Hunt forum was strictly for discussing Sea Hunt programs.

You have heard of not looking a gift horse in the mouth, well, you might have also heard of the Trojan Horse.

We already have two fine forums as it is, I always considerd the scubaboard version just as a recruiting station. I am sure there are many people we have captured for lackof a better word from that forum but the discussions there are usually limited and to "moderated" in general.

There is more to all of this but no point in rehashing, my loyality belongs here and with vss as well.
