Vintage Double Hose

AquaLung is still behind on shipping the Yokes and Knobs that I need to get all the Phoenix nozzles and regulators out to you……Here is the deal. I need to come up with 17 yokes and for any that you can send me I will give you $25.00 credit per yoke on anything in the current VDH inventory in the store other than Phoenix Nozzles…..My plan is to ship as many nozzles as I can with the used yokes and exchange them for new ones when they finally arrive from AquaLung. Take a look carefully at the pictures. It must be the threaded high pressure yoke. They have been on Conshelf XIV regulators and Cylinder Checkers for years and years and may be on other AquaLung regulators that I don’t know about…..That’s $40.00 credit for each yoke you can send me. If you are getting a Phoenix nozzle and don’t need yours right away please let me know. So everyone lets get out there and play DIVE STORE DETECTIVE!!!

A good friend just came up with 6 yokes and 6 knobs and so now we need 17 yokes and we can get most of the Phoenix nozzles to everyone!

Bryan, you might check with Dan at VSS. He has Dacor HP yokes that have been machined to fit RAMS. Maybe they will work on a Phoenix?

The VSS yokes aren't threaded high pressure yokes and they cost $75.00.

And he does not have anymore.

I will take mine without the yoke and when they finally get here you can just send it on to me, already told you that but just charge me another 4.80 for extra postage too. I have one extra yoke but it does belong to another regulator so I can only borrow it so to speak for temporary while we wait on the slow train yokes from AL. Thanks for all of your efforts.

Thanks James! Hold on to it if you are attached to the spare. I'd hate to loose it and try and replace it in this environment these days!

Two reliable sources at AquaLung state that they are 400+ deep in backorders on yokes and knobs. Once source tells me the last batch of yokes was scuttled due to QC issues!!! It may be 30 days before they ship them now. Phoenix sales are closed till this issue can be resolved.

There is a possible solution.This will only work should we not be able to get any more threaded yokes--EVER You can use the unthreaded yokes and use a threaded sleeve that floats in the yoke. AL used this arrangement way back on the Calypso. The threaded sleeve threads onto the nozzle barrel and has a flange at the top that captures the threadLESS yoke. This flange is of course is either hex or has two flats for a wrench to engage. This would work perfectly but obviously requires extra parts, labor, expense--a solution of last resort but would open up other sources of yokes.

I've been experimenting with that....They fit like Mistral yokes do.....so far I have only been able to come up with the dull chrome ones like are used on Titans and I have found no source for the sleeve nut yet.....It is a great idea though...

Don’t forget that the Titan yoke with the sleeve did not work well, it interfered with some types of hoses that have a heavy hex base. This was because the yoke is too thick at the base and the sleeve/ nut held down low. Some of the other yokes and sleeve may work, but it would require obtaining some samples and trying it.

Not to distract the thread and only to see if others might have a yoke that would work temporary here is what I mean.



To use a Titan yoke it would be required to machine the base of the yoke and the shoulder much as was done with the modified Dacor yokes that are sold sometimes in the vss store, I have one, it is not threaded but the shoulder is cut.

This would only be a solution of last resort due to all the extra machining. But it might get a few people in the water if the AL yokes get delayed longer.

This (pic above) BTW is a Calypso long yoke with threaded insert. Another thing fellow divers, the old AL USD pressure guages had a threaded yoke w/o insert. These may screw directly on the Phoenix nozzle (pic below). None of thse are HEAVY yokes but they obviously work up to 3000 psi--so far.



I have not fit checked these on a Phoenix but if needed I could. I think they will work.

I have confirmed the fit, both of these yokes will fit and will work with any size hex hose installed on the Phoenix. Better than nothing and maybe get a few more in the water until the AL yokes come in.



This is the insert type, works perfect, so does the threaded yoke from the pressure guage.

Just send mine without I have a HP yoke I can borrow off a Conshelf that needs an overhaul.
