Clamping the hoses

I have been having a problem with clamping some of the one inch hoses on my regs. The duckbills appear to be made of a thicker rubber, and the super stretch hoses that abounded during the last year were also made thicker. The problemmis I cant get a regular clamp to fit on the side with the thicker duckbill and hose. I end up using a cable tie and that really sucks..looks like crap as well. Any suggestions.

JMO but I use wide black cable ties on all my regulators.....I think LaSpirotechniqe got it right when they went to those in the late 60's. Easy to install, no screws or nuts to loose and when you are ready to clean your regulator and hoses you just cut them off and use a new set when you put them back together..........
Since I am seeking a new mfg for duckbills I will make them thinner this time as I am familiar with the problem you are talking about......Not sure what hoses you are using but the ones that I am selling now will work with the duckbill if you use a 3/4" screw as opposed to the 5/8" one. It leaves a little gap but you can use your original hose clamps for sure.

The hsoes were the ones put out by VSS last summer the stretchy ones with the minty aroma. Is tehr a specific size of cabel tie that you use, as this seems to be the best result. Under the area of the tie where they meet to adjust, I put a little plastic shim so as to have a complete circumferential seal. But my ties are narrow. What width do you use?

These are the ones I use...And I use the install tool...You don't really need the tool but it sure does make a nice finished product. I have put these on quite a few regulators and no one has told me they were unhappy with them.....I'm sure other companies supply the same thing. You might search for one in Canada and save on shipping.

Since Bryan's second link doesn't work
(and I couldn't make it work either)[ try this link and then click the 8" Heavy Duty Cable Ties (120 lb.) (Black) selection.

That provided a good close up of the fastening end. I had been using a much lighter version of that. Will now look at the 120 pound range. I thought they would be overkill, but clearly not, and they are considerably wider.. much thanks

The nylon ratchet clamps in the one inch diameter work well and are reuseable.

bought some herbie clips one inch, they are too short.. seems that none of the local suppliers home depot etc know what a ratcheting clamp it. They kinda look at you like your from mars.

Gee, what a surprise. As contractor I could tell you horror stories about big box stores, especially Home Despot. I am fortunate enough to still have an old TRUEVALUE where I live and I go out of my way to support them. I recently built an airlift and those guys made the plumbing for it easy. The only thing I sourced out of HD was the ten foot 4" PVC sections.
I like what Bryan is doing with the zip ties, I may go to that myself.

An airlift. now that is something i could go for. I have a area about an hour away where i have been searching for 30 years for the paymaster box off an old barge. The barge is long gone, but i need to get some of the sand off the area. Do you have plans for this lift

Four inches sounds about right for what I need.

I don't understand what this has to do with hose clamps? Or am I missing something here?

Athough harder to find I like these low profile ties. I found some at a Lowes store a while back.

You are right about those Tom. I have used them on the mouthpiece end and I like the look but I could not get them tight enough to suit my taste. I think they are also made by Thomas & Betts company. I'm 99% sure mine came from Home Depot and they were on the rack......
BTW Tom, I'm sorry about how the LSU game turned out last night.....
