Vintage Double Hose

Need info on Rocket fins made be Aqua-Lung/USD.
Why are some one-size-fits-all, but others are marked in sizes? Is this a timeline issue? If so, does anyone know the approximate timelines for variations in this line of fins?
What do the sizes represent as far as normal foot sizes with and without boots?
Also, what makes the "Super Rocket" different?

i still have my original 1968 rockets.. still going strong, and found a brand new set in the box at a Goodwill store for 10 bux.

My 1968 rockets say one size fits all. which is true if you arent wearing a wetsuit boot with a hard sole, then they seem to get snug.

The SAupoer Rocketb if memory serves me right was made of a stiffer rubber toi get more power on the downstroke. Or was it a more interactive rubber with greater flex...one or the other

I use Rockets for target practice. Got to have something to shoot "at" since they don't let me shoot "at" yankees up here in Kansaw. You oughta see 'em fly when I get on 'em with my scatter gun. Yeeeehaaaaaa. (Rebs yelled Yeeeeeeehaaaaaa, yanks screamed Wooooohooooo)

Seriously, I think they are the worst possible fin except for that pink TUSA junk. Like trying to swim with a vice on each foot. Never had any use for them other than the above. My poor wife has a pair bought back when I was an idiot and they would darn near kill her, I had a pair and I think they permenantly crippled me.

guess I 'm a reb. From little round top to Picket's charge... still a reb.

I have tried graphite and all sorts of split fins, torn fins, duckfoot fins, and none feel better than those ankle vises called rockets.

I agree with Nemrod. Nothin like dumpin a 100 round drum into a set of rockets! I guess next machinegun shoot I will know what to donate as targets!

All vintage divers in the know, have rocket fins. They are so COOL, and mega trendy. Always the talk of the elite. With a copy of Atlantic Monthly tucked under your arm, and a keen pair of rockets on, everyone will envy your good taste. For 35 years they have been so "MODISH" You guys are bitchin because they just dont have any propellers, or "D" rings on em. No computers, or flotation wings. Get with it. GET ROCKETS!

Well, all I know so far is that the one-size-fits-all goes back quite a ways. I still don't know why some have sizes marked, or if they ran concurrently with the one-sizers.
Thanks for the reviews, although that wasn't the intent of my question. I can't imaging the U.S. Navy could have gone that wrong in fin selection.

My Rockets (what is left of them) were marked as one size or "all sizes" and my wife's Rockets are Mini Rockets and they are much smaller than the "all sizes" Rocket. I don't recall smalls and mediums and larges.

women rockets.. thats cute... like when rolex made a ladies submariner.. smaller version it was cute too but cost more than the full size.

If you need a Rocket FIn that will actually fit a normal adult male size foot (while wearing a botie) then go with the Super Rocket Fins.

They look like the standard Rocket Fins only bigger.

Rockets? What pray tell be wrong with ScubaPro Jets? When serving with Uncle Sammy's Marines in Okinawa 30 plus years ago, I first used a pair of Voit Vikings, things were almost as long as my legs and I worn my skinny Marine Corp Butt out skin or scuba diving with them.......when a buddy of mine rotated back stateside, he gave me his JETS!.........First time I tried them I understood why they were called JETS!..........suspect Rockets are the same.......gave them to my oldest son when he moved to Calif. Now I have a old pair of power plana's........they're ok and powerful if I need the extra kick..........but I do miss those JETS!

Been a Aqualung USD man for all my dive life.. I cant imagine anything else.

My first pair of fins were Voit Vikings back in the early 70s. I sure wish I still had them. Now I use Power Planas, but they sometimes give me calf cramps. I tried my friends Rocket Fins and they SEEM to give as much speed with much less effort. I need to get a pair of fins for my vintage dives, and besides that I feel left out because EVERYBODY has at least one pair of Rockets!
And, yes, they are USD's equivalent of ScubaPro's Jets (or vise versa).

There are a pair of Super Rocket Fins currently available for sale on eBay.

Here's my 2 cents worth...I bought a set of Rockets when they came out! I especially enjoyed the concrete like rubber foot pocket. It was a joy to take off! I liked them so well I gave them to my Brother in law. They rank right up there with Duck Feet....Bro inlaw got those also. IMHO fins started and stopped with the Giant Rondine 1958...they wore out in 1977. I hate this plastic crap they put out now....Wanna get me started, tell me how good the silicone masks are! IF IT AIN"T NEOPENE only Kmart should sell it. And snorkles with all the gee gaws...if you can't work a straight pipe snorkle what the hell are you doing with an aqualung?
