This is the area to try out Williams idea. I'll let him explain what he is looking for in this section. I do not plan on editing or moving anything. I'll let him be your guide in this new area.

Learning Section & Question

1st: "Thank You Bryan for this New Section Try". I and many of the Guys just do not know the Basic Information that we should know about the great amount of Vintage Diving Equipment that we see all the time. Keeping it Basic Info will help. I and others would really appreciate any help that you Much more knowledgeable Men could help us ( learn ) with, telling us just Basic Information you might know about the equipment. I would like to see it kept to basic information to keep it more Focused so Learning and scanning through could be much easier. At the end of a posting if there is any general discussions that anyone would like to do, please just say where you wish the discussion to be made, like Vintage Diving Forum or General Discussion if possible, please. This will allow everyone to quickly scan through and find very interesting basic information that they may Not know about a piece of gear they own. Example->Like I Never knew the small CO2 Spearguns like the Barracuda, had up tp 1000 psi Fireing Force and a Range of 60 Ft Underwater and 180 Above Water and there were Many of these Style Guns out there. ( Information about an Item like-->the 1st to Last year it appeared in Catalogs, or years made, Cost, Factory/Brochure Specifications and Info like Dimensions and Weight and like in Spearguns-Power and Range. Any specific information. (( But it is up to you still as to what you post. No one is goinfg to be fussing at you so things could keep moving along.)) It would be fascinateing and a Surprise to see much of the information and also would allow the Great Men here, with such Vast Knowledge of the great amount of gear to show what they know or could find out to help us. Guys like Doctor Sam, Alan simonbeans, Duckbill and Many Other Men who really know the vintage diving equipment. To me it would really be great to have the help a lot of us need so badly. Please post any Equipment you need to learn about and hopefully there will be help. Thank you.

Voit B-4 Mask: Made Famous by Lloyd Bridges on "Sea Hunt" ( but that is all I and many others know.) Just a little information like when it appeared to when it ended in catalogs, cost, any defect in it, would be greatly appreciated?

Seems we are off track before we even got started. I thought this was supposed to be a section about use and techniques of diving with vintage gear and now we are discussing mask colors years produced, etc, seems a bit off track.

1st "Thank You All So Very much for your help. It is wonderfull for the guys like me who "need to learn". I am creeating a Diary of this information in alphabetical order too. >>>-->>Bryan is exactly Right !!! I wish specific information. ( But I do Wonder.) If there is a Strong desire for some extra information like Captain says, well, I guess that could also be included, for those who need it, as long as it is fairly "To-the-point". If that is the case, please keep it to the point and specific, please", and not evolve into discussions in this section. The idea is "To learn the basic information about an item is all, so MANY items can be learned about, Faster & Easier". But is Should be designed to help with information for All Members I feel would be ideal. I woulld like to enter another question at this time also that is So important to me.

Speargun

The little 1940s or early 1950s>>>-->Healthways Aqua King Speargun with the strangest rubber slings I have ever seen. I have one of these and I know so little about it, except that is Might be the 1st factory speargun that Healthways ever made. The years made & catalogs it appeared in, factory specifications, price, power & range, anything would be fantastic to learn. Again "Thank you gentlemen so much. I ask any member at the VDH Forum to ask any question on a vintage diving item that they would like to know facts about & I ask those men who have the knowledge to please help us if they can".

Maybe I still am not sure exactly what this section is supposed to address. I am sure we all know how to use a basic mask. I can see questions about use of a full face mask such as a Desco or KBM. I guess my understanding was all question on technique would be here and all others would be in the general vintage forum. But what do I know.

I think we are in the same boat. I don't have any idea what this is about. Can we chalk it up to a senior moment?

Only discussion seems to be occuring here. This is Not for that. Alan, simonbeans "Nailed It Perfectly" with his Answer posting. This is supposed to be a Try at getting "Specific Information only" on a vintage diving item and keep it short, to the point. I ask that any other discussions be done Elswhere and let people list their Vintage Diving Item here ONLY if they want to, please.

I think the intent of the "Learning Center" would be for divers like myself, who are fairly new to the vintage scene. This seems to miss the mark... I personally don't see where learning a mask is blue and was made in the 50's is beneficial. Couldn't you post questions about that in the existing threads already? I think it would be more prudent to see info about actual techniques such as regulator maintenance or buddy breathing for vintage beginners. Even then most of that info we can already get in the vintage diving area.
