Voit 50 Fathom-Too Good to be True

I was quite surprised to win a chromed 50 Fathom on eBay for less than $130. Even missing hoses and mouthpiece, they typically fetch a higher amount than that.

Well...It arrived yesterday, and the unit was missing both the diaphragm and the diaphragm lever. The diaphragm is no concern, as Bryan's reproductions for the Mistral are the same as those used in the 50 Fathom regs. The diaphragm lever (part #DS441) is going to be the tough part.

I doubt if the seller even knew the parts were missing, as they don't have any recent history of diving related equipment.

If a lever cannot be obtained, I might put a Mistral valve mechnism in the cans. It wouldn't be my preference, but it would be like having a Ford body with a Chevy engine.

By any chance does someone have a spare lever?

Greg,

There's a 50-50 chance I might have the lever.
By memory, I recall there being 2 levers, a long & a short one. Which one are you looking for?

As soon as I can get access to my parts again, I'll look for it along with your tilt valve. If not this weekend, then probably the following one.

Mike,

It is the long lever. The short one has a number of sharp bends. If you have one it would save my reg from becoming a "Mistrathom" of sorts. I am so thankful for the tremendous help that you have been to me, both with the Voit catalog collection and assorted parts.

Perhaps I can repay your kindness at the Portage event this August.

Greg,

I went looking for the lever today and unfortunately I do not have the long lever. I knew I had a bag full of 50 fathom parts. I found the bag and inside I have almost all the parts for a 50 fathom, except for the long lever. I have about 20 of the short lever. I couldn't believe it. What bad luck.

On the positive side, I'm pretty sure I found your tilt valve. It's very close to your dimensions and I think it'll work for you. I'll send it out tomorrow.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get your hopes up.

Very generous of you Shackle. I would make Greg pay dearly for it if it were me. :P Just kidding, that is just one of the things that makes this forum so great. It is like family :D .

Now back to the saucer people.....

Shackle came through for me BIG time! I now have the missing lever, and my reg is ready for some test dives.

I have sent a PM to Shackle, but I wanted to let everyone know how appreciative I am of his kindness.

BTW, take time to read my new 50 Fathom post, if you own one of these regs. One good turn deserves another...
