Vintage Double Hose

Hi,

I was looking at pics of rare regs on another web site and was wondering why a DACOR C-2 Clipper would be listed among Divair, Viking beer cans and Sea Horse regs.

I picked one up as part of my DACOR collection but I had not considered it anything special nor was it priced as anything but a normal DACOR. I am thinking this is a typo on the web site. Am I missing the boat? is their something unique about this particular model?

I believe the rarity may be based on the number produced. I lived in Chicago and dove in Chicago and saw about 1 dacor reg to every 30 aqualung regs. This even tho Dacor was baised in evanston Ill (next to Chicago)

Dacor simply did not sell a lot of these units, buyers seemed to prefer
the double diaphrams. I believe there was a C-3 with a different and
more streamlined cover similar to the R4 cover.

I used to assemble these units and I'm gonna give a rough estimate that
we made 20 Dial-A-Breath, double diaphragm regulators (R-3) to every one of the C-2 regulators. So, yes, it would definitely be a rarer find from this era.

Wow, this is neat, someone who actually assembled the Dacor doubles. I have a couple of questions Dacor Tom:
I have an R-4 with serial #6495. Can you tell me approximately when it was made, and when did Dacor stop making the R-4?

From the serial number you gave (6495) for an R4, seems like a really late to final run model from the best I can recall Perhaps Dacor Jerry might
have a better read. I left in the early 70's and I don't think I remember
serial numbers over 6000 and R4 orders were virtually nil at that point,
but that's over 30 yrs ago, and many memories keep comming back.

Actually I'm now laying in bed every morning with more memories, this
is getting kinda spooky...but interesting!

Thanks for the info Tom! Sounds like R4 production was very limited. Neat to know mine is one of the last ones made. I didn't think all that many were made, as I've never seen an R4 with a higher than 4 digit serial #...

I don't recall any serial numbers over 7000! Sounds like you've got a
got end of the run model!

Would probably be nice to have an early run R2!

One was the clear plastic second stage Dacor dart and the Gold plated

I have an R-4 with serial number 7861. So, they must have run on a bit longer.

Now can anyone sell me an exhaust diaphragm, or do a rebuild on it? How should it breath compared to an Aqua Master?

Sweet serial number!

Dacor Jerry can supply you with that exhaust piece. With new, larger
diameter hoses and mouthpiece it will breathe nearly as well as an
Aqua Master.
