Snark III Silver

I reciently picked up a set of twin 38's, a Mistral and a Snark III Silver. THe Mistral has been disassembled and and is waiting for a overhaul kit.
I disassembled and CLEANED the Snark yesterday. Some people have a different idea of what "Well maintained" means than I do. Green is NOT a color that I like on the inside of my regulators. The last peson that worked on it decided that if a little silicon was good, lots was better, it was a gooey mess. The exhaust mushroom was toast so I added a duckbill which should work. I reassembled the regulator and tested it, it works, I have a repair manual enroute for final testing. It needs new hoses.
Here are some pictures. I wish I had taken some BEFORE I cleaned it.

Tim I really appreciate you posting the information about your regulator for all of us to see. Going forward, if you could post your info here or on VSS, one or the other please. That way people only reply at one place or the other and they are not trying to follow the same thread on both forums. Keep it streamlined if you know what I mean! Thank you for your help and support.

I'd recommend dumping the duckbill in favor of the mushroom exhaust. My experience side by side with a Snark III & Aqua Master was the mushroom outlasted the duckbill, though your mileage may vary.

If I could find a new mushroom valve I would use one.... so far no luck.

If you find a source for those mushroom valves, I could use one too.

If anyone has a mushroom handy & can do some measurements, I'll start looking.
I have a few Snark IIIs here myself but they're all in working condition & taking one apart isn't that high on my list of things to do right now.
I realize that it's all of a single screw [on the later models) but there are other things waiting to get done that are more pressing.

I measured what was left of my mushroom valve and it was five centimeters across. If you need the measurement of the hole it was anchored in, let me know and I'll dissassemble and measure it. FWIW, I would like to install the correct exhaust valve in mine as it may improve performace, but the duckbill is adequeate for now. I have used it on several dives this year and really like the reg. I even did the Searat baffle mod on it. Thanks
