Ok I ran into a block. there is a tiny tiny tiny o ring, actually tyhe only o ring in the dw mistral and it is in the pathway the hp pin travels. How the heck do i get it out to replace it.

I got one of VDh rebuild kits and trying to rebuild it. This is the only stumbling block so far

Well, I use a small plastic pick. You must be careful not to damage the sealing surface.

I use a number 9 crochet hook, plastic one, not aluminum, and you usually can get them in the yarn department of most Wal marts, meijers, etc. The hook is not sharp and won't scratch any sealing surfaces and can be slid on the outside of the old o-ring hooked and removed. Hope this helps. RVF

I have also been looking for the perfect solution to this same question. I like the crochet hook idea. I'll try it next time.

Don't panic, though, if you do happen to scratch the surface inside where the o-ring lies. All is not lost. It really isn't a critical seal and it won't hurt a bit if a bubble or two slip past the o-ring. As far as I can tell, that o-ring just provides a sliding/centering surface for the pin to ride on, and a good seal to cause the air to divert through the venturi tube. But, try your best not to scratch it. Plastic is good.

But... if you scratch or gouge the volcano orifice side while removing the O-ring you can easily ruin the body on the regulator for good..... Stick with plastic or soft brass till you have done it a few times. You will also do youself a favor during re-install and get a red tube from a can of WD-40 or an orange stick/wooden dowel of the same diameter and slide it just through to the other side of the volcano orifice. This will help line up the O-ring when you are trying to re-install it and keep it from wanting to come to a point and go on through the orifice.....

Works for me.....Then again you have to ask yourself what would I know about it....
