Last winter while I was involved with a PADI Seal Team class, I was honored to have as a partner a Divemaster by the name of Susan. On the 2nd day of the class, I showed a DVD of Sea Hunt to amuse the kids, especially one in which "hose cutting" was predominate. This lead to many questions about "old diving gear", with a demonstration on Friday of that week. I brought along my round label RAM for Susan to try out in the pool. "Wow", that is cool". After working at the store with her and subjecting her to the stories of Sand Dog III, Wazee and Portage, we made a journey yesterday to Alex Bay on the St. Lawrence when Susan dove the RAM again in open water. Being an exceptional diver, she listened to my quick "the differences" spheel and into the water we went. She used a USD 72 with a Sportways pac, Seatec BC with a hookah tap to a Scubapro Air2 inflator/alternate. A banjo fed to her gauge console. Wearing a pair of Jets and her own "vintage-style" mask, down we went on the Islander, a neat little wreck just off shore. The first dive was good, and wow , would you believe, she wanted to go again. So I grabbed the Canon G-6 and started shooting away of this "new" vintage diver. Here is a photo of this convert:

What a great experience - I'm looking forward to many more.
Thanks Allan - for everything - your vintage instruction, being the best buddy I could hope for, and an incredible friend who has introduced me to this "new/old" world.
best,

Susan

Susan,

I almost forgot, please consider becoming a registered member of Vintage Double Hose.com, it's a great place to learn more about vintage diving and the members are both knowledgeable and friendly. :)

See, didn't I tell you how great these vintage equipment people are. And I bet you can't wait until Sand Dog IV to actually meet these folk. Speaking of Sand Dog IV, hopefully we will have an important announcement on it this week. Susan has been working like crazy to get some exciting happenings. Ever since you used that Royal Aquamaster of mine see how your life is more fun!!!! Now, it is time to think about NAVED.

Welcome Susan.....Anyone that can put up with Allan as a dive buddy must have the paitence of Jobe!! Brittnee will be very excited that there is another girl she can dive with. She gets really sick of diving with me!!

I can't wait to announce the plans you are working on for SDIV! This will be the best one yet.

Well, thank you all so much - I'm actually at a loss for words as to how welcome I feel and just ask Allan - me at a loss for words? Completely unheard of!

As for needing anything from down under - I will, I'm sure of it.

I look forward to knowing all of you - under and above water - and to being thoroughly involved in any project I'm invited to. Just ask Allan again. He's the only one I know who goes more "native" than I do.

And Bryan, just to make up for spelling Bryan wrong  - to prove I know how aggrevating it is, you can call me Sue. Once. Go ahead, get it over with. Once.

I've been hearing so much about you all I feel like I know you already...

PS And Brittnee, I'm really glad I'll be meeting you and diving with you, too. I'm sure you're not tired of diving with Bryan at all but it's great to have other women to talk to and dive with...
