Full Face Mask?

Thu Jan 01, 2015 9:03 pm

Had an inquiry from a customer wanting to buy an Argonaut and use it with a Cressi style full face mask. The only way I could think of to do so would be to locate one of the metal mouthpieces made in the past by USD that you could put wagon wheels in.
Are any of you Kraken divers using a full face mask or have any alternative suggestions?
When the new mouthpiece is done I'm sure it could be used this way but it won't be available for a while yet.

I have my Cressi FF mask set up with a Hope Page mouthpiece. It works well, but I personally don’t find the Cressi mask to be very comfortable during a long dive. I have been looking at other FF mask that I could do the same thing.

I used it in Portage one year. I think Allan has a picture of it.

Waiting on the new DSV for my Kraken in order to use the USD Com Mask 1. Have found the Scubapro ffm mouthpiece opening to be slightly small for even the newer Aqua Lung Mistral (no longer in catalog and no longer marketed). The old metal mouth piece assembly would work great though they are extremely hard to find.

Anyone tried a Kraken on one of the OTS masks?

I don't think it would work unless there was a special adapter for an OTS mask. It has a proprietary connection for their second stage

I did make one for my OTS using my 3d printer. I didn't get too fancy this was my first print of this type. I didn't direct the air up to the mask. Without the direct air clearing the fog from the mask it slowly built up. I didn't use a kraken but a royal phoenix instead, breathed just fine. I am thinking about changing my 3d model and directing the air up to try to clear the mask. I haven't dove my viking or ots in a year or so, vintage drysuit/wetsuit and double hose far easier to deal with...

If you have pictures or more info on the mouthpiece you made please share. A+ for creativity!

Floatingpi, that is pretty cool. I have an Aga and have wanted to try something like that with mine. I know the Guardian is similar to the Aga, Does the second stage attach the same on the Guardian as the Aga does?

Sorry for the missed replies. If anyone is interested in the models I would be willing on sharing. Please realize that your results may vary, I have found from printing on my own and from the school's printers there are differences in dimensions.

@crimediver - I believe they are different and are not compatible.

@ Byron - I created a couple of videos to show off it working and give some idea of how it is setup.
