Argonaut red hoses and varying depths

Last week Herman and his wife Kathy, good friends from Maine, Earl and Nancy and I were in Bonaire. Herman had a proto-type Argonaut with Red hoses for further testing. We decided to photograph the hoses at increasing depths. The images were taken with a Canon S-95 using natural light. I had the camera on AV mode thus at deeper depths and lower light the camera selected slower shutter speeds and the resultant blur. (My bad). Also the 130' photo was really quick as we were both diving Eox 32 and the 130 feet pushed us to 1.6.

Thanks Allan! Did you take any using a strobe?

When Bonaire found out the new Argonaut Krakken was coming, they sent out the trumpet fanfare:

The hoses look pretty black at depth. I always seem to remember blood looking green to me at 100-110 feet when I spearfish. I never saw anything in those
pics that looked green. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Zounds....I have to start breathing Nitrox more often. Herman's hair definitely got darker when the PO2 increased! 8)

Crimediver, yes, I've seen blood (mine) appear to be green after a nick on the finger once.

Now you all are just taunting us with those cool red hoses.

You also have to understand that the hoses are not just red. They are a very bright, with a high chroma. Much different from blood.

The science of diving is so cool. Also, I cannot freaking wait for those red hoses on my Kraken. Great pictures Allan. 8)

Here is a short video taken on Bonaire at the Salt Pier. Three things to look for:
1. The red hose color, of course,
2. The benefit of bubbles behind the head for photographers,
3. Herman's remarkable buoyancy control.

Depth, 25'. Water temperature, 79 degrees. Partly cloudy. 9:30 AM. Camera is a S95 in an Ikelite housing with a red filter.

I seem to remember that Vulcan blood is green from watching Star Trek as a kid.
