I have been recently reading again the two volumes I have by Trevor Norton. They are Stars Beneath the Sea and my favorite, Underwater to Get Out of the Rain. To snyone who is not familiar with his work he is a marine biologist and avid diver. His prose is full of wit and humor and his observations on natural history and the marine world are fascinating. I think he has another book, Reflections on a Summer Sea which I have not read yet. To anyone who wants a good read about the sea, I would highly recommend seeking out his works.

I see that both titles are available from Amazon:

1. Stars Beneath The Sea: The Incredible Story of the Pioneers of the Deep Sea.

2. Underwater to Get Out of the Rain: A Love Affair With the Sea.

On a personal note, I was pleasantly surprised to see that his home town was Whitley Bay, just a few miles away from where I live. Whitley Bay is described as "a fading English resort town, where he (Trevor Norton) one day dove into the water and discovered a 'fresh and alive sea' that was "everything that the land wasn't."
